Questions Sussex homeowners ask

Answers are shown in full so they remain useful and accessible. Property-specific decisions still require survey evidence.

Are heat pumps suitable for every home?+

No. Many property types can work, but measured heat loss, emitters, space, electrical supply and practical constraints determine suitability.

Can you install both air and ground source heat pumps?+

Yes. The confirmed NW Heating Services scope includes air-source and ground-source installation, repair and maintenance.

Do I need underfloor heating?+

No. Correctly sized radiators can work. Underfloor heating is one low-temperature emitter option, particularly useful in suitable new floors or renovations.

Will a heat pump reduce my bills?+

It may, but no universal saving can be promised. Previous fuel, tariff, design, weather, controls and household demand all affect cost.

How much is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant?+

Most eligible air-to-water and ground-source projects receive £7,500. Some qualifying off-gas properties can receive £9,000 until 31 March 2027.

Can you help with the grant?+

Yes. We help explain eligibility and the installer-led process. Ofgem and the scheme rules determine approval.

Do you repair and service existing heat pumps?+

Yes, subject to system type, model, safe access and parts availability.

Is solar thermal the same as solar electricity?+

No. Solar thermal contributes heat to domestic hot water; solar PV generates electricity.

How long will an installation take?+

The programme depends on the property, emitter changes, cylinder, electrics and any groundworks. A timeline follows survey and design.

Which Sussex areas do you cover?+

The website has pages for 20 large population centres, and enquiries are welcome from homes throughout Sussex.
